6 sleeps to World Card Making Day

Well hopefully 6 sleeps - as long as I am not up all night making cards!!!! We are getting excited about this weekends events. Above is a sampling of the cards we have been creating for such a great cause.

If you are wondering what I am talking about.. we are doing a fundraiser for KidsAbility. We will be selling cards like these, $2.75 each or 12 for $30.00. $2.00 from each card goes to KidsAbility. The goal is 500 cards and I will be locked in the store display window until we meet our goal. I would really like to get home to see my children before they get married, so PLEASE come out and support this great cause!!!

Contact the store to order your cards today.

The Chill is in the evening air

and in the new shapes that we received from QuicKutz. Are you working on fall pages? Are you starting to work on Christmas Cards (aside from the ones that you are ordering to benefit KidsAbility, of course)? You'll want to check out the new dies we received today!! Lori figures she will keep QA working on Christmas from now through next July with all of the ideas flowing from this release. From scarecrows (both Squeeze and Revolution) to a haunted house ... from Christmas light borders to Santa Stop Here signs, this release has it all. Here are a couple of examples:

We also have LOTS of new cardstock in the store. The Bazzill Destinations line has arrived, as has the new line which has a polka dot texture. Come see it for yourself when you get a chance. We're still dealing with all that came in yesterday, and more will be here next week. I have no idea what it will be, but it's coming.

Don't forget, too, that the wonderful Vicki Boutin will be here on Sunday teaching a class on Distressing, direct from Ranger U. The class has so much for you to learn in creating an album that she has set aside 6 hours for this one class. Definitely a great opportunity to learn new techniques.

LOTS OF GOOD THINGS, LOTS OF GOOD CAUSES

WOW - I have to say that there is NEVER a dull moment at Scrapping Turtle. This weekend was our Scrap Pink event and I believe that a good time was had by all. We had the support of some of our suppliers and customers to help create goodie bags that were FANTASTIC. Everyone went home with a great bag of stuff. As you know Scrap Pink is an International Event to aid in the fight against Breast Cancer. We were thrilled to join in this great cause.

Another cause that we are putting some support behind is KidsAbility. KidsAbility provides services to over 4,000 children with disabilities each year in Waterloo Region & Wellington County. The work they do is so valuable to so many, and like many programs their funding has been cut and they face a shortfall to provide this must needed service. We have decided to help out with a fundraiser on World Card Making Day - October 4, 2008. And what better way to help a good cause then to lock me up in a window till we meet our goal. Now I know that some people would be happy to just leave me there, but I am hoping the majority will see the fun and value in this event. Here are the details of how you can participate in this event - and get a jump start on your Christmas gifts or stock up on some cards.

* If you would like to pre-order cards, please contact Scrapping Turtle no later than Friday, September 26, 2008.
* Cards will be available for pick-up at Scrapping Turtle on Saturday, October 4th, 2008 from 10 AM to 6 PM.
* Types of cards available All Occasion,Birthday, Christmas, Thank you, and "Surprise Me" (a random selection)
* the cost of cards is $2.75 each or 12 for $30.00. $2.00 from each card sold goes to KidsAbility

The winner is ...

a very excited Pat Harbin, who called the store Monday, shortly after the ticket was posted here. She called with some disbelief that she had won as she "never wins anything". Pat was here first thing Tuesday morning to pick up her package. Congratulations Pat!!

I've been busy trying to get more of the new product online for everyone. We now have the Little Yellow Bicycle "Frightful" line in stock. Whether you are planning a ghoulish Halloween party, have kids going Trick or Treating, or are going to join us for our Haunted Mill crop, this paper will complement your layouts well (not to mention the accessories). Some of the paper is flocked, some is glittered, some has foiling ... whatever your taste they have tried to give you something.

If Halloween isn't your fall thing, what about some of the beautiful papers we have just received from Bo Bunny! Lori reorganized the store last week to be able to get some of these papers out, only to have several of them sold out over the weekend!

They also have some beautiful Christmas papers that Bev has been buying up to make cards.

With so many events coming up at the store it's sometimes hard to keep them all in mind. Tomorrow night is Crop Night. There are still seats available, so if you want to start your weekend with "me" time, come join us for pizza and fun. This is the kick-off for our "Scrap Pink" fundraising crop for Breast Cancer. Our all-day crop is fully booked for Saturday, but if you are out and about, drop in and say Hi.

Next weekend, Vicki Boutin will be returning for another full day of learning on our part. Thanks to Hurricane Ike, Vicki's trip to Texas has been cancelled, so she has agreed to come here to teach a 6-hour class on Distressing Techniques compliments of Ranger! Seats for this are limited ... the class was over half-full before she left last weekend.

Don't forget, too, that the Fall Yard Sale is approaching quickly. We have several people who have picked up forms already! Deadline for dropping off your "gently used or forgot I had it" that you want to share is Thursday, October 16 so act quickly!

Time to run.

What a day!

Thanks to all who made it out to our Customer Appreciation Day! It was a an awesome day and we enjoyed spending it with you. There was a lot going on in here that's for sure. Vicki Boutin was here teaching two amazing classes, Katharina Doyle was here from Canadian Scrapbooker doing make & takes and signing autographs, and even Lisa from ScrapFest came to join in the festivities! It was a great day all around, and many cookies were eaten in the process!

Thank you again for all of your support and for giving us such a wonderful year so far!!

Of course those of you who were here yesterday are probably wondering "WHO WON THE KIT!!!" I know I said the winning ticket would be posted last night, unfortunately my computer was NOT co-operating last night... so I will post it now!! The winning ticket is...

Congratulations to the holder of ticket # 241142!!!

Thanks for a great day and see you at the next Customer Appreciation Event!! Now Teresa is kicking me off of the computer so she can get new products online!

Will it ever stop

coming and let me catch up? More new product has arrived over the past two weeks. I can't keep up with all of it so please be patient. It will appear on the website sometime soon. From the beautiful Bo Bunny papers to the great Little Yellow Bicycle line for Halloween to a HUGE delivery from Maya Road there is something for everyone. Brenda did a wonderful job with a DT workshop on the Maya Road Sprays. We had the sprays out in the store for people to play with last week and they flew off the shelves. Hannah has to order more already!

It comes in both matte and metallic colours and cover chipboard really easily. Layer it for interesting colour effects.

Come see what's new in the store on Sunday. We're holding a Customer Appreciation Event! See you then.

Have you started sorting yet?

Back by popular demand!! Mark October 18 on your calendar. That is the date of our next Yard Sale. Forms will be available at the store starting tomorrow, September 8. Sort through your stash, make a list, set a price and get ready to clear it out to make room for some of the new stuff that has been arriving weekly.

While you've got that pen out, mark this Sunday, September 14 on your calendar. That is the day we will celebrate you, our customer, and being included in Canadian Scrapbooker as the featured LSS. Come to meet Katharina Doyle of Canadian Scrapbooker between 12 and 2, do a Make and Take or two, have a cookie, enjoy the specials we have in store for you, our valued customer. Even better, call and register for one of the few spots remaining in our classes with Vicki Boutin. Create a mini book or learn techniques with Perfect Pearls ... or both!!

Need a jump on your Christmas cards? Why not preorder some cards handcrafted by Lori and help her on her way to the 500 cards she needs to sell to benefit Kidsability! World Card Day is October 4 and Lori is going to be locked in our display window until we sell enough cards to release her. There are also great classes going on that day with Lesley Langdon of Cornish Heritage Farms.

There is never a dull moment around here. Keep an eye here on the blog, and on our newsletter, for ongoing reports of what is going on around here. I can hardly keep up!

And there they were ....

GONE!! Remember those great layouts Lori did with the QK Spring Gift Sets? How cute the fonts were, or versatile depending on which one you were looking at? Well, we are down to our last couple of each font. If you've been thinking about getting one but putting it off, now would be the time to act. Each comes in its own special packaging. Three of the fonts are Cookie Cutters that have already been foamed for you (Mademoiselle, Exotic Island and Fiesta) and the fourth is a Squeeze font (Chopsticks). Get them while you still can.

Bev and I are working away here today while our families enjoy the last day of summer vacation before it is back to the school grind tomorrow. Drop by and see us if you get a chance ... or even better, come see the new stuff that is in-store for your shopping pleasure. New Maya Road chipboard, stamps and sheers, American Crafts, Moxxie camping and vacation papers and stickers, and Luxe Designs. We even have some new doodle templates. We had boxes and boxes of stuff come in and we've managed to squeeze it out onto the floor. Our sale on BasicGrey continues today - 25% off everything BG!

Watch for new items on the website later this week.
