They're here...

and you get to see them today. Saturday Hannah brought back boxes and boxes of QuicKutz Gift Sets and they are absolutely wonderful. I'm not a big one for spending money without lots of thought and deciding whether I REALLY need it or not ... but I definitely need some of these. We'll be having our "It's Midnight Somewhere" preview on Friday night. This event is open to all ... not just QK addicts or QA members. Join us from 6-9 on Friday night to make great projects using these:

We'll provide you with yummy snacks to enjoy. We would appreciate it if you could RSVP, but it is not mandatory - we wouldn't want to run out of something.

See you Friday!

Meet the Design Team (Part Three)

Jasmine Roth

I have always had creativity on my side whether it be sewing, designing, scrapbooking or photography. I am a mommy to Charlise, Dominic, and Tyson aka chunky monkey. I discovered my true calling a few years ago when I became a professional photographer specializing in children and families. I live in Elmira, Ontario and am lucky enough to be a 5 minute drive from Scrapping Turtle. It is impossible for me to start my day without my Timmies and have a great husband who has learned that very quickly.

With many ups and downs in my life, scrapbooking became my creative outlet where I could just be me. It allowed me to express what I was feeling at a particular time, or at that moment. Special thanks to my friend Kerri who showed me how to create a hobby into an obsession. I am a total addict when it comes to paint, chipboard and rub-ons. I find it hard to create a "simple" layout. The brighter and bolder, the better for me.

What do I expect to gain from this experience? Well with all the wonderful inspiration in the gallery I want to think outside my box. Push myself to come up with great ideas and projects for every level of scrapbooker and even for myself. I Look forward to working with all of you and my hope is that I can also inspire you!

Kim Munro

Hi! My name is Kim Munro and I am so excited to be a part of the design team at Scrapping Turtle!! I barely remember life before scrapbooking (probably because it wasn't properly photographed and documented!) I am the proud mamma of two beautiful little girls who are the focus of my life and the inspiration for my scrapbooks. My husband Steve is "kinda" supportive of my all-consuming hobby which basically means he loves my photos and pages but hates the visa bills! I am an avid collector of all things scrapbook related and love all of the textures, colours and patterns that are part of this awesome hobby! I get so excited to see those brown boxes at the Scrapping Turtle, just knowing that they are full of new and exciting goodies to add to my pages!!

In addition to my family, I have also been blessed to discover a passion for photography and thanks to my husband, motocross! I love everything about it!! I have been racing for a number of years now and besides my love for the sport, it gives me a chance to play with those "boy" papers and embellies! I have always enjoyed photography and I love how well these passions of mine compliment each other, allowing me to challenge myself in a number of areas. Although my style tends to be fairly simple, allowing my photos to take centre stage, I still love the thrill of hunting for that perfect paper line or embellishments to help me tell my story.

After some serious health issues, I realized the value of documenting not only the events of our lives but also the feelings that I have for the people in my life. In a way, scrapbooking became a form of therapy for me. Through scrapbooking I have met some incredible people and made some wonderful friendships including the very supportive team of girls at the Turtle.

I have a very wise friend who once told me that "scrapbooks are meant to be shared"...and so thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share a piece of my life with you and I look forward to getting to know you a little better too! See ya in The Pond!

Meet the Design Team (Part Two)

Jen Roach

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I live in Burlington, Ontario with my
husband of two and a half years.

I work full time in the pharmaceutical industry, which greatly cuts
into my scrapping time but it allows me the financial freedom to add
to my ever growing stash of supplies! Other than scrapbooking and
crafts, I'm addicted to tennis. In the summer months, I play in
competitive interclub leagues and recreationally at a local club or
two. I also enjoy cooking, gardening and watching movies. If that's
not enough I've been trying to improve my photography skills and learn
more about Photoshop.

I've been scrapbooking in some form or another since I was in high
school but really got "serious" about it about 4 to 5 years ago when
my mom and I took a class together at a local store. I've been
addicted ever since! I scrap primarily in the 12 x 12 format but have
completed layouts in several different sizes. I also love to make
altered items and I have a passion for card making.

I've been fortunate to have projects published in: Scrapbook and Cards
Today, Paper Crafts, Cards and Scrapbook Trends Magazines.

I think my scrapbooking style can be best be defined as "romantic" but
doing design work over the past few years has really pushed me to
experiment with many different styles. I think I adapt my style to
the photos or supplies that I'm working with.

I'm looking forward to sharing my passion for scrapbooking with all
the Turtles in the Pond!

Janie Boots

I started out scrapbooking almost 6 years ago, after the sudden passing of my mother. I wanted a way to pay tribute to her and let my younger children know about there grand mother, well as you can see it has snowballed from there. Scrapbookingis a form of therapy for me.
I really enjoy altering items as you can tell by some of the things I alter.

I am the mother of 5 boys ( yes 5) ranging in ages of 20 yrs old all the way down to 3 years old. I am married to my best friend. Sometimes I drive him nuts with my scrapbooking but it's ok he appreciates my work.. My boys are my inspiration so are my animals I have 4 cats and they are the best. I was born in Baltimore Maryland USA but was brought to Canada when I was 6 weeks old so I have dual citizenship. My husband is of German descent so it makes for a very interesting household. I also love to read the Harry Potter series is my favourite I have read them many times I have all the movies as well. I also love to draw black and white portraits and fantasy pictures, I have been doing that since I was 14 years old.

I like to think my style is eclectic with a bit of whimsy. I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve on the Design Team and I can wait.
I am very excited to be woking with this very talented bunch of ladies.

Meet the Design Team (Part One)

Kim Silva

I have always had a problem with my hobbies. I love to buy the supplies required for each one and once bought, those things I just HAD to have sit idle, unloved. Somehow after a trip to the Scrapping Turtle – my first time in a scrapbook store – I went through the motions, bought all kinds of paper, adhesive and brads. Something happened and this time, the hobby stuck. I guess it makes sense because I have always loved looking at pictures, especially old photos but now I can put glitter and junk on them!

I am a mom to two crazy kids, Gabriella (7) and Rui (almost 5) who keep us busy! My DD scraps with me all of the time and has even been to a class at the Turtle. My husband Dave, bless him, never asks “How much?” after I have been to the scrapbook store – and for that I am eternally grateful.

I work in marketing and communications in the insurance industry and work for a super-fun company in Waterloo, Ontario.

I love trying new techniques even when they don’t work out. And I find myself always looking for that new thing to try on my layouts and cards. Other than scrapping, my favourite pastime is reading. I love Jane Austen, Stephen King and totally inappropriate romance novels.

I am so pumped to be on the Design Team and am really grateful for the wonderful honour and opportunity!

Brenda Rowe

I started scrapbooking less than a year ago, thanks to the Turtle’s inspiration, although I’ll admit to being hooked on this amazing art for about 3 years now, collecting all the luscious papers and embellishments, and imagining what I would do with them. I love watching a layout come together – it’s like opening a present, little by little! My beautiful daughter, Tina, is 25 and is a constant source of inspiration for me, in so many ways.

I’ll always be a Newfie at heart, but I moved to Kitchener from Ottawa a little over a year ago to be with my fiance, Richie, after a two-year long distance romance. He’s an incredible man, and my biggest supporter. He lets me take the craziest pictures of him, too. I enjoy photography, and playing in Photoshop and Painter. I like to vary it up in my layouts and try different things, but I especially love distressed looks, flourishes and stamping. I really love using all my Quickutz tools, and exploring creative ways to use the die-cuts. I believe that I can only feel great when I’m scrapbooking, because I’m spending time with my most precious memories, so the opportunity to create for you all is going to be a joy!

Victoria Murray

When I discovered scrapbooking three years ago at home party, it felt like a match made in heaven. I’ve always been a creative person; I even had a career as a jewellery designer until my daughter was born. As much as I loved being a fulltime Mom to Sidney I needed a creative outlet and frankly banging on metal is too loud to do at naptime.

Scrapbooking is now my passion and my family is my inspiration. I love experimenting with new techniques and ideas. I've been lucky enough to be published a few times and have made some great friends all thanks to this hobby. I’m so excited to be on the design team at the Scrapping Turtle. I hope to get to know you all, inspire you a bit and have lots of fun!
